A small country in the middle of Europe with a population of less than 11 million, a country of beer, culture, monuments, history and nature, but also… porn.
Not so long ago, porn and eroticism weren’t talked about much. But as times have moved on and society has become more open to all sorts of directions, porn is now being talked about in the same way as buying bread at the grocery store. What are we going to say, after all, it concerns the everyday life of all of us.
After the Velvet Revolution, the then still Czechoslovak Republic opened its borders, but in the field of porn and erotica it was relatively lagging behind and it was a new topic. However, the market economy began to rise, cooperation with the West was accepted and access to information was opened up – all this gave space to the porn business, which quickly found its place in the country. It didn’t take long for the small Czech Republic to literally become a world porn power.
How to define porn power?
After the revolution, practically everything in Czechoslovakia was free, at least for the Western world. Making porn films, shooting scenes and finding actors was much cheaper than if companies had done it in their home countries. Gradually, therefore, much of the porn industry moved to the Czech Republic, which is why it remains a porn power to this day. You can find some of the biggest porn producing companies here. The number of scenes filmed here makes up a high percentage of the global pornography production.
Last year, statistics were published showing that the Czech Republic has the most porn actors per million inhabitants in the world. There are 86 actresses and actors per million. Then there is Hungary, which the Czech Republic regularly shares the number of porn actors per million inhabitants. And even though, for example, the USA is in third place, you can see the difference in the number of porn actors. There are only 27 porn actors per million inhabitants.
In 2018, a meeting of porn industry representatives from around the world was held in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Not many people know that some of the world’s most visited porn sites were founded by Czechs. There is no question that the Czech Republic is indeed a porn power and that pornography is thriving in the country.
How much longer the Czech Republic will remain in the limelight is impossible to say. Porn is practically a kind of art, albeit with exquisite material. It used to feature the same actors and actresses who were selected according to somewhat strict rules. But as the industry has evolved, porn is now available anywhere, anytime. People want new meat, new faces, and they go further in different practices. So the world of porn is opening up more and more to young and inexperienced people who can make a pretty good living in it, get burned and still create problems in and around their families. It is therefore difficult to say in what direction pornography will develop overall.
